Governor To Compete In Triangle Challenge
Governor Andrew Murdoch is combining diplomatic duties with distance running this weekend, as he will take part in the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge, competing in the one-mile, 10K, and half marathon events.
When asked about the event, the Governor told Bernews, “I have always enjoyed running, more for general fitness than anything serious or competitive. When I heard of The Chubb Triangle Challenge it was exactly the type of event that find interesting – challenging, but also something enjoyable and community centred.
“So – somewhat to the surprise of some of my staff in Government House – I entered the event and intend to do the one mile, 10K and then the half marathon on the Sunday.
“When I entered, I was feeling quite confident, but as the event comes closer, I just hope I can get to the end!
“Bermuda is an incredible place to run, and I’m not surprised that there has been so much interest from overseas runners. Bringing international attention to this event and growing the number of visitors is a real positive for Bermuda, knowing that funds generated are being used to support Bermudian athletes.
“I would encourage residents to embrace the three days of racing by not only supporting both our visiting and local runners by cheering them on, but also by exercising patience.
“These events are only made possible by using our roads, so please be patient and extra careful when driving as there will be traffic disruptions due to road closures over the weekend in the morning hours.”
