Competing in the junior division are Thea Dyer, Nahla Ndiaye, Stian Du Preez, while Ryan Hopkins and Elijah Richardon are in the adult category.
The event runs tomorrow [January 17] and Sunday at the Kerr Hall Gymnasium at Toronto Metropolitan University.
Aaron Dyer, the Open Mat Bermuda founder, said: “I’m always aiming for gold from our athletes, and I feel confident that Ryan, Ashley, and Elijah are poised to hit the podium.
“It’s also Stian and Nahla’s first time competing as grey belts, and they’ve trained incredibly hard to get here.
“Thea Dyer has been putting in serious work as well, and I’m excited to see her showcase it. I’m proud of all of them as we step into this event.”
