Samuels & Sousa Qualify For Carifta Games
Amara Samuels and Tatiana Sousa both achieved Carifta Games qualifying standards during the BNAA track meet today [Jan 31].
A spokesperson said, “The BNAA held its second track meet of the season this morning at 9am. It was an amazing day for our athletes, perfect conditions for our older athletes to try and reach the Carifta Games standards.
“We are excited to share that we had two athletes reach the standards this morning. In her second year in the U17 category, 15-year-old Amara Samuels surpassed the U17 Girls 100M standard [12.35] with a time of 12.14. In her very first meet of the year, Tatiana Sousa has a reached the qualifying standard in the U20 Girls Javelin with a throw of the 38.86m. The standard is 37.00m.
“This is amazing, considering her training regime has been disrupted due to lack of access to National Sport Center field and the fact that this is her first year in the U20 category. We are looking forward to seeing both athletes improve on these results.
“Overseas, we had Miles Outerbridge smash the U20 200M standard [21.80] in a time of 21.34. We have a few athletes that are knocking on the door to qualification and are closely watching their performances. Special mentions to Gianluca Bortoli, Riana Robinson, Brooklyn Meyers, and Sanchez Smith.”
