Flora Duffy Ninth In Mountain Bike Race
Dame Flora Duffy finished ninth in the Ford Trailseeker Banhoek 70-kilometres mountain bike race in the Banhoek Valley, South Africa, last weekend.
The event featured elite men’s and women’s fields, including the top South African mountain bikers and international competitors.
Duffy, representing Specialized, finished in 3hr 06min 11sec.
“Last minute decision to enter the Trailseeker Banhoek 70km mountain bike race,” Duffy wrote on social media.
“I haven’t spent much time on my mountain bike, nor have I been training particularly hard/much so this race was a big challenge, but I really enjoyed it.
“Refreshing to step out of my comfort zone and do something different. And it was hard!
“Highlight of the day was David [seven-year-old nephew] racing the 10km. He crushed it. Great day out at Plaisir wine farm.”
