Bermuda Officials Pass Combat Courses
The Bermuda Boxing Commission has strengthened the island’s combat sports officiating ranks after a visit from an official with the Association of Boxing Commissions.
Bryan Miner, an instructor and official with the ABC, conducted certification courses for local referees and judges in Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts.
In Muay Thai, Dirk Evelyn, Chuck Morgan, Na’twan Fisher, Tristan Robinson and Oscar Lightbourne, the president of the Bermuda Boxing Commission, earned certification as both referees and judges.
Gladwin Phillips qualified as a judge, while Dwayne Cox gained referee certification.
In Mixed Martial Arts, 11 officials passed the ABC MMA judges course, including Monique Heyliger, Tony Mouchette, Nathan Lawrance, Nolette Webb, Zenji Ingham, Phillip Maybury and Talia Fox.
Five officials — Lightbourne, Fisher, Evelyn, Maybury and Shaun Richards — also passed the MMA referee course.
