Tyler Smith Takes Fifth At Africa Cup
Tyler Smith produced his strongest result of the season, finishing fifth at the Africa Triathlon Premium Cup in Mossel Bay, South Africa.
He completed the standard-distance race in 1hr 51min 28sec, climbing through the field with the second-fastest 10km run of the day [32:31].
Smith exited the 1.5km swim in ninth place in 19:26 and maintained his position with a 40km bike split of 58:54 before his strong run secured a top-five finish.
Meanwhile, fellow Bermudian Oliver Hayward finished 43rd in the Europe Triathlon Junior Cup in Quarteira, Portugal, clocking 59:07.
Hayward recorded a 750m swim of 9:21, a 20km bike split of 29:55, and closed with an 18:13 run in the junior elite men’s race.
