Solay Thomas Representing Bermuda At SONA
Special Olympics Bermuda athlete Solay Thomas is representing the island at the inaugural Special Olympics North America [SONA] Athlete Congress in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Thomas is among 27 athletes from Canada, the Caribbean and the United States attending the weeklong event, which began on Sunday [March 8] at the Special Olympics Michigan headquarters to discuss topics affecting athletes across the region.
The SONA Regional Athlete Congress provides athletes with an opportunity to enhance leadership skills, collaborate with peers and influence the future of the Special Olympics movement.
Discussions during the event will help shape the agenda for the 2027 Global Athlete Congress in Chile.
Thomas is accompanied by Athlete Leadership mentor Juanita Easton.
Thomas represented Bermuda at the 2023 Special Olympics World Games in Berlin, where she won a bronze medal in the women’s shot put.

Congratulations Solay you are a bright and shining star. All the best sweetheart
