Women In AI Launches ‘Spot The Harm’
Women in AI Bermuda has successfully launched Spot The Harm, a “new educational series designed to promote responsible innovation by raising local awareness in harm detection, and ethics in the development and use of artificial intelligence. ”
A spokesperson said, “The initiative brings together professionals across technology, policy, finance, education, and business to address how AI systems can unintentionally reinforce bias, exclusion, and systemic risk.
“The inaugural Spot The Harm Brown Bag Session attracted strong demand, and generated thought-provoking discussions amongst a highly engaged audience of professionals representing diverse sectors. Critical insights on the potential harm AI poses — including discrimination, misinformation, and opaque decision-making, were discussed, with further emphasis having been placed upon the impact of AI-related harm as incremental, systemic, and scalable when automated.
“Delivered with support from UNESCO and aligned with national priorities of the Government of Bermuda, the series positions Bermuda as an emerging leader in ethical AI dialogue and applied governance. The sessions translate global frameworks into local, practical understanding—equipping participants to ask better questions, identify hidden risks, and design more inclusive systems.
“Building on the momentum of the brown bag sessions, Women in AI Bermuda will host its flagship Spot The Harm event on March 14, 2026, at the Bermuda College. The event will expand the conversation into applied learning, cross-sector collaboration, and actionable outcomes tailored to Bermuda’s economic and social landscape.”
“The future of AI will not be defined by speed alone, but by our ability to recognize harm early and design responsibly,” said Women in AI Bermuda leadership. “This series is about moving from awareness to accountability—ensuring innovation works for everyone.”
A spokesperson added, “The Spot The Harm initiative supports workforce development, inclusive growth, and responsible digital transformation, while creating pathways for continued collaboration between government, academia, industry, and civil society.
