Squash Results: STARR Bermuda Open
Top seeds Kareem El Torkey and Sabrina Sobhy advanced to the next round of the STARR Bermuda Squash Open in Devonshire.
In the men’s draw, world No 21 Kareem El Torkey beat Finnlay Withington in straight sets. The Egyptian won 11-6, 11-7, 11-9.
Rui Soares, ranked 86th, upset world No 37 Karim El Hammamy in five sets. Rui Soares recovered from two sets to one down to win 9-11, 12-10, 3-11, 11-4, 11-6.
Nicholas Spizzirri, ranked 90th, also caused an upset, beating world No 50 Nathan Lake in four sets.
In the women’s draw, world No 19 Sabrina Sobhy beat Heylie Fung in straight sets, conceding just 14 points in an 11-5, 11-4, 11-5 win.
Menna Hamed also advanced with a straight-sets victory over Laura Tovar.
Noa Romero beat higher-ranked Madeleine Hylland in four sets, while Nadine Shahin came from behind to defeat Ella Jane Lash.
