Daniel Burkitt Joins Appleby Bermuda
Appleby welcomed Daniel Burkitt as Partner in its Dispute Resolution practice in Bermuda.
A spokesperson said, “Daniel is an experienced advocate, with particular expertise in complex and high value insolvency and restructuring, commercial and company matters including shareholder disputes, cryptocurrency, asset preservation, insurance and reinsurance, trust disputes and ADR / arbitrations. He has extensive knowledge of cryptocurrency and recent decisions concerning digital assets in multiple jurisdictions.
“Before joining Appleby, Daniel practised as a barrister in London for 12 years at Three Stone, the Chambers of John McDonnell KC, and for three years with a global law firm in the BVI, acting for the joint liquidators of Three Arrows Capital Ltd, a cryptocurrency hedge fund which had US$9 billion assets under management. Daniel’s practice is international and he has acted in a number of matters with a US element, assisting US firms to bring or defend claims involving foreign law in the US, most notably a claim for US$1.5 billion in FTX’s Chapter 11 proceedings.
