Montgomery Helps Badgers Reach Frozen Four
Blake Montgomery and his University of Wisconsin Badgers team have reached their first Frozen Four since 2010 after captain Ben Dexheimer scored 24 seconds into overtime to claim a 4-3 win over top-seeded Michigan State.
Wisconsin trailed late in the NCAA Regional Final at the DCU Centre but forced overtime with a late surge.
Dexheimer’s point shot early in the extra period deflected into the net to complete the comeback and send the Badgers to the Frozen Four in Las Vegas.
The victory ends a 16-year wait for Wisconsin to return to college hockey’s semifinals.
