Minister of Economy and Labour Jason Hayward met with members of Bermuda’s entrepreneurial community during the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation’s [BEDC] Chat and Chew to discuss the newly released Bermuda Entrepreneurship Blueprint.

A Government spokesperson said, ”The session allowed business owners, startups, and aspiring entrepreneurs to share feedback on the Blueprint and discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the small-business sector.

“Designed to strengthen Bermuda’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, the Blueprint supports innovation, improving access to resources, and creating greater opportunities for business growth and economic participation.

“Minister Hayward highlighted the importance of engaging directly with the business community to ensure the National Entrepreneurship Blueprint reflects the realities and priorities of Bermuda’s entrepreneurs.”

“Entrepreneurs are critical to Bermuda’s economic growth, innovation, and diversification,” said Minister Hayward. “The National Entrepreneurship Blueprint must be shaped not only by policy experts and stakeholders, but also by the real-world experiences of the entrepreneurs building businesses and creating opportunities within our community.”

The Government spokesperson said, “During the discussion, participants shared perspectives on accessing financing, business support services, regulatory challenges, training opportunities, and long-term business sustainability.

“Minister Hayward noted the importance of ongoing dialogue in shaping policies that support a more resilient and inclusive entrepreneurial environment.”

“The feedback shared during this session was constructive, insightful, and solutions-focused,” said Minister Hayward. “These conversations are essential to ensuring Bermuda’s entrepreneurs remain central to the implementation of the National Entrepreneurship Strategy and the development of policies that support long-term business growth and opportunity.”

BEDC Executive Director Erica Smith said the session highlighted the importance of direct engagement between the Government and Bermuda’s entrepreneurial community.

“The Chat & Chew created meaningful dialogue between the Minister and Bermuda’s entrepreneurs,” said Ms Smith. “Hearing directly from the business community, answering questions, and sharing the vision behind the National Entrepreneurship Strategy was energising. BEDC remains committed to turning that momentum into meaningful support for entrepreneurs and strengthening Bermuda’s future.”

The Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry also announced that Chat & Chew sessions featuring Minister Hayward will now be held monthly at 6:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of every month at BEDC. The Sessions will provide entrepreneurs with ongoing opportunities to engage directly with the Minister and discuss issues affecting Bermuda’s business community.

“The next Chat & Chew session will take place on Thursday, June 11. Entrepreneurs interested in attending this or future sessions can register by emailing the BEDC at info@bedc.bm.

“The Bermuda Entrepreneurship Blueprint forms part of the Government’s broader efforts to strengthen Bermuda’s business environment, encourage economic participation, and support Bermudians seeking to start, grow, and scale their businesses.

“To that end, the Ministry of Economy and Labour thanks the BEDC for continuing to facilitate meaningful dialogue between the Government and Bermuda’s entrepreneurial community.”
