Police Renew Appeal In Double Murder Case

The police have renewed their appeal for information one year after the fatal shooting of Shaquan Williams and Jasmin Smith in Somerset.

A police spokesperson said, ” May 1st 2026 marked one year since the tragic murders of Shaquan Williams and Jasmin Smith, who were both fatally shot at Legends Bar in Somerset, where three other individuals were also wounded.

“As part of the ongoing investigation into this double murder and the three attempted murders, the Bermuda Police Service is making a renewed appeal for information.

“Members of the public may recall that approximately 10:30p.m, on 1st May 2025, four individuals with firearms entered Legends Bar and discharged multiple shots, resulting in the deaths of Mr. Williams and Ms. Smith.

“A video of the suspects was released shortly after the callous incident.

“To date, two men have been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting. Both are currently remanded in custody at the Westgate Correctional Facility. However, detectives continue relevant inquiries.

“The Bermuda Police Service would like to sincerely thank those persons who have already come forward and assisted with this investigation. Your cooperation has been invaluable.

“We still urge anyone who may have information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward. If you know something, please say something. Your assistance could be vital in helping to bring full closure to this case and justice for the victims and their families.
