Over 500 Attend Athene Life Career Expo
The 2026 Athene Life Career Expo brought together more than 500 students, graduates and professionals to explore careers in Bermuda’s growing life and annuity reinsurance industry.
A spokesperson said, “More than 500 students, recent graduates and seasoned professionals attended the 2026 Athene Life Career Expo.”
“This was the fourth year of the Athene Life Career Expo, and we continue to find new ways to introduce Bermudians to opportunities in the life and annuity [re]insurance industry,” said Ruth Stovell, Head of Human Resources, Bermuda, at Athene. “For instance, this year’s event featured an interactive artificial intelligence tool that participants used to ask questions about the industry and learn more about the careers in it.”
The spokesperson said, “Attendees connected with industry professionals and executives, received one-on-one resume advice and had complimentary professional headshots taken. Students also had the opportunity to attend a dedicated session on securing a first role or internship.”
“As a global [re]insurance hub, Bermuda is home to many opportunities in life and annuity [re]insurance,” said Natasha Scotland Courcy, CEO and General Counsel of Athene Life Re. “Each year, the Athene Life Career Expo helps more Bermudians learn about the field and maybe even see a future for themselves in the industry.”
The spokesperson said, “The event featured keynote remarks from Cathy Duffy, former Country Leader of AIG Bermuda. Duffy has over four decades of professional experience and was the first Bermudian woman to earn the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation. She also received the Fred Reiss Lifetime Achievement Award and the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation’s Inclusion Champion Award.”
“Grateful for the opportunity to keynote the Athene Life Career Expo,” said Duffy. “The energy, the ambition, the possibility in that room reminded me why access and exposure change everything.”
The spokesperson said, “Monique Simpson, Associate Vice President of Reinsurance Operations at Athene, also spoke. Simpson has more than 20 years of experience in [re]insurance and financial services.
“The event also featured giveaway prizes, including a laptop from Red Laser and a round-trip ticket on BermudAir. Martello Re was the platinum sponsor of the 2026 Athene Life Career Expo. Somerset Reinsurance, Chariot Re, Chubb and Sun Life International were gold sponsors.
