AES Closing Early For Sir John Swan’s Funeral

The Adult Education School announced that it will be closed on Wednesday [June 24] due to the funeral of Sir John Swan, and classes will resume on Thursday [June 25].

A spokesperson said, “The Adult Education School will be closed on Wednesday, June 24, for the funeral of the former Premier, Sir John Swan.

“Sir John, who was Bermuda’s Premier between 1982 and 1995, was for many years a key supporter of the AES, which was founded in 1958 as the first alternative school in Bermuda.”

Arlene Brock, AES Managing Director, said: “Like all of Bermuda, we are so grateful for Sir John’s widespread contributions, and we offer his family and colleagues our deep condolences.”

The spokesperson said, “The school will reopen for classes as usual on Thursday, June 25.”
