Video: Karl Roberts After Victory Over Belize
Bermuda’s women’s national football team defeated Belize in two matches, with interim coach Karl Roberts praising the team’s performance after they secured the back-to-back victories.
In the first match, Bermuda defeated Belize 4-0, with Keunna Dill scoring twice and Kenni Thompson and Evans Welch each adding a goal. In the second match, Dill scored again to give Bermuda a 1-0 victory.
Speaking after the second match, Roberts said Belize had produced a stronger showing in the second game.
“I think the ladies did really well tonight,” Roberts told Bernews. “We knew that Belize was going to come with a little bit more energy after we defeated them in the first game, so we knew to expect them to come at us, and it was a much better game from Belize.”
Roberts said Bermuda created chances but were unable to convert more of them, adding that the team made a few tactical adjustments for the match.
“We created chances, but wasn’t able to put them away,” he said. “We done a couple of things differently for this game, but it was a good result by our ladies.”
The interim coach also noted that the two matches allowed Bermuda to give playing time to a large portion of the squad.
“We got to see some players, practically the whole team over the last two matches,” Roberts said. “So it was good, a good result by the ladies.”
