Audio: Minister Perinchief’s Maiden Speech
Newly appointed Progressive Labour Party Senator and Minister of National Security Ryan Robinson Perinchief delivered his maiden speech in the Senate yesterday [July 15], marking his first formal contribution since being appointed to the Senate.

It is interesting how some are saying he is too young but then when young people are not selected then the criticism goes the other way. Let him get to work and see what he can do. He has always been one to watch and so this is not entirely surprising.
He is clearly passionate about our community and has qualifications to match. Why are we condemning him before he even gets his feet wet?
Bermuda has placed someone with substantial intellectual credentials but very limited political and operational experience into a portfolio where mistakes can be unusually consequential.
It’s a valid criticism of a high-risk appointment. A Junior Minister role would be more appropriate.
Well good luck , your gonna need it!!!
You’re clearly missing the point.
His age isn’t the issue. What is an issue is that he has been appointed to public office with a ministerial portfolio (and a major one at that) without running for office and having been voted into that position by the people of this country.
If this had occurred with a person at Ryan’s age for any other party aside from the PLP that were in office, you’d no doubt be up in arms about it.
I believe Ryan is genuinely well-intentioned and no doubt articulate, but aligning himself with the likes of Burt and his cronies in accepting this role greatly tarnishes what goodwill he has as an individual, sadly.
