PLP, Curtis Dickinson, Jason Hayward Statement
The PLP and leadership candidates Curtis Dickinson and Jason Hayward have issued a joint statement about the leadership election.
The joint statement – from PLP Chairperson Dawn Simmons, MP Curtis Dickinson and Minister Jason Hayward – said, “The Progressive Labour Party and both candidates for the leadership of the Party, the Hon. Curtis Dickinson, JP, MP, and the Hon. Minister Jason Hayward, JP, MP, issue this statement together.
“Recent reporting has questioned the fairness of our leadership election. We address it with one voice. The election of our Leader is governed by our constitution, administered impartially, and decided by our delegates. Every candidate operates under the same rules. That is the standard we hold ourselves to, and it is the standard we are meeting.
“This contest has energised our Party and our country, and that is a good thing. It is a choice of ideas and of vision for Bermuda, and our members deserve to see it decided on that basis.
“Whatever our delegates decide in October, Bermuda will have a Progressive Labour Party Premier and a Progressive Labour Party Government. That does not change. What we are choosing is the leadership to carry this Party and this country forward, and we will emerge from it united and stronger.”
