Donald Treanor Wins Medal In Lima
Local fencer Donald Treanor won a bronze medal at the Pan American Youth and Veterans Championships in Lima, Peru.
Treanor finished tied for third in the sabre, finished seventh in the épée and fifth in the foil.
“Just got back from the Pan-Am Youth and Vets fencing tournament in Lima,” Treanor said.
“Had a rough first day in épée. Couldn’t get distance right in my head and ended up seventh. Did better in my age group Foil, going 4-0 and tied for first coming out of the pool. Ended up fifth.
“Sabre was better, did better than expected given how little sabre practice I get and finished tied for third.
“One more warm-up tournament before heading to Georgia for the Veteran Worlds. Need to keep the Bermuda flag flying over FIE [International Fencing Federation] events.”
