Uma Kumaran Appointed Under-Secretary In UK
MP Uma Kumaran has been appointed to a UK Government ministerial role carrying responsibility for the Overseas Territories.
Ms Kumaran was appointed jointly as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and as an Assistant Whip on July 22, 2026. She has represented Stratford and Bow as a Labour MP since July 2024.
Her other responsibilities include the Caribbean, global technology and artificial intelligence, violence against women and girls, and departmental operations.
