Bermuda Players & Thomas College Win

A strong contingent of Bermudians helped Thomas College come from behind to defeat the University of Maine at Farmington 4-2 in their North Atlantic Conference opener.

Tre Burgess, Cody Robinson, Chance Eve, Justin Sukdeo and T’syi Showers all featured for the Terriers, with Robinson scoring one goal and providing an assist, while Burgess also recorded an assist.

Maine-Farmington took the lead in the 12th minute through Owen Spera, before Thomas responded six minutes later when David Ivarsson scored from a move involving Robinson and Burgess.

The Beavers regained their advantage in the 24th minute through JJ Greenlaw, but Thomas drew level again five minutes later when Robinson scored, with Daud Abdi and Maxwell Gilbert providing the assists.

The teams went into the interval tied at 2-2, with Thomas goalkeeper Jamie Fischer making four first-half saves.

The score remained level for much of the second half before Thomas struck twice in the space of 38 seconds.

Andrew Hodgins put the Terriers ahead in the 82nd minute after assists from Gustav Franzen and Brynjar Johannsson, before Jeremiah Gomez scored moments later to make it 4-2.

Fischer finished with eight saves as Thomas improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
