Sept 14: DNDC To Host Community Info Session
The Department for National Drug Control [DNDC] will host a Community Information Session on Monday [Sept 14] at St. John’s Church Hall.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Department for National Drug Control [DNDC] will host a Community Information Session on Monday, 14 September, from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. at St. John’s Church Hall [also known as the Pembroke Sunday School].
“The session is for anyone concerned about their own alcohol or drug use, or anyone helping a family member, friend or other person find treatment and support.
“Representatives from several addiction treatment and recovery agencies will be available to explain their services, answer questions and help people understand where to turn for assistance.
“The event forms part of Recovery Month 2026, which is being observed throughout September to raise awareness of treatment and recovery and reinforce the message that help is available and recovery is possible.”
A DNDC spokesperson said: “We want people to know that they do not have to figure this out on their own. If you are concerned about your own substance use, or you are trying to help someone else, this session is an opportunity to speak directly with organisations that provide treatment and recovery support.”
The spokesperson said, “Agencies expected to attend include the Bermuda Assessment and Referral Centre, Dignity House, the Nelson Bascome Substance Abuse Treatment Centre for Men and Women, FOCUS Counselling, Turning Point, Pathways, Harbour Light, Right Living House, Narcotics Anonymous, Al-Anon and Alcoholics Anonymous.”
The spokesperson added: “Sometimes the hardest part is knowing where to start. This session brings several services together in one place so people can ask questions, learn what support is available and identify the next step.”
“The Community Information Session is one of several activities taking place during Recovery Month to increase awareness of treatment and recovery services across Bermuda.
“Light refreshments will be served.”
