Royal Caribbean has replaced a scheduled Bermuda visit by Independence of the Seas with an overnight stop in Saint John, New Brunswick, citing adverse weather.

The change affects the ship’s five-night cruise scheduled to depart Cape Liberty, New Jersey, on Saturday [October 24], with its planned Bermuda overnight removed from the itinerary.

According to Royal Caribbean Blog, which reproduced a passenger notification, the cruise line said: “The weather’s impact makes it hard to provide you with a safe and comfortable journey to Bermuda.”

The publication also reported that Royal Caribbean is offering refundable onboard credits ranging from $150 to $500 per stateroom, depending on cabin category, with additional compensation for third and subsequent guests.

According to a report from Cruise Hive, the cruise line emailed passengers saying, “Along with our meteorology team, we’ve been closely monitoring inclement weather developing off the East Coast. The weather’s impact make is hard to provide you with a safe and comfortable journey to Bermuda.”
