City Invites New Pop-Up Food Concessions
Do you have an exciting and unique business concept for a pop-up food concession? If so, then you may be interested to know that the City of Hamilton is currently inviting submissions for new food concessions in the City.
A spokesperson said, “The City issued its Request for Proposal [RFP] today, Thursday October 15th, 2026, as part of its Food Concession Programme which seeks to enhance the vibrancy of the City and cater to the working public.
“The vendor locations will be Queen Elizabeth Park, Wesley Square [Northwest edge], Laffan Street and Front Street [to the west side of the Bermuda Marquee sign].”
“The City will consider proposals on a case-by-case basis and will only consider food concessions that do not directly compete with any existing businesses in the surrounding areas of the eligible locations,” explained the City’s Venue & Rentals Coordinator Ms Renee DeShields. “The food concession must provide an added value to the area in terms of diversity of available options, vibrancy, customer experience and aesthetics.”
The spokesperson said, “The initial lease will be one year [January 1st, 2027 to December 31st, 2027]. The rent for all food concession facilities is $1050.00 per quarter due one week prior to the start of the quarter. In addition to the monthly rent, the operator will be responsible for all utility charges and will be billed directly by the respective utility provider and will pay directly to the provider.
“For additional space beyond the designated rental area, i.e. additional seating area or parking space, a flat fee of $500.00 per year will be charged and paid in full at the start of the lease term. If the operator wishes to install external furniture that will occupy additional space, a visual representation of the furniture must be included in the initial proposal and must be approved by the city with written consent prior to installation. An additional fee will be added for the use of space and storage for external furniture. This fee is listed within the lease under ‘Fees and Charges’ at $500.00 per year.
“All proposals are due, via email, no later than Monday, November 23rd, 2026, at 5:00PM. Please email your proposal to venuerentals@cityhall.bm.
“Leases will be awarded, and successful applicants notified, no later than Monday, December 7, 2026, with operations expected to commence in the first quarter of 2027.
“Interested vendors may obtain the RFP document by emailing the City’s Venue & Rentals Coordinators at venuerentals@cityhall.bm or by going to the RFP page on the City website.”
