The City of Hamilton is “advising motorists and pedestrians that several traffic lights along Church Street are currently out of operation.”

A spokesperson said, “The affected locations include the junction of Queen Street and Church Street, the pedestrian crossing opposite the City Hall car park [by Dismont Drive], and the pedestrian crossing further along Church Street near the Central Bus Terminal.

“Technicians are currently working to identify and resolve the issue and restore the lights to normal operation as quickly as possible.

“In the meantime, motorists are urged to exercise extra caution when travelling through the affected areas, reduce their speed, remain alert for pedestrians and be prepared to stop where necessary.

“Pedestrians are also advised to take additional care when crossing the road, ensuring that traffic has come to a complete stop before stepping into the roadway.

“The City asks all road users to exercise patience, courtesy and heightened awareness while the lights remain out of service.

“The City of Hamilton apologizes for any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for its patience and cooperation while the issue is being resolved.”
