Special Olympics Help At Golf Championship
Special Olympics Bermuda volunteers served as marshals at the weather-affected Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Course last week.
“Thanks to the volunteers that showed up at the 2027 PGA,” the organisation said in a social media post.
“The weather did not co-operate, but we made the best of it.
“These fundraising opportunities allow us to offer sports programmes to our athletes at no cost and we appreciate your commitment.”
American Austin Smotherman beat Ireland’s Seamus Power in a play-off to win the title.
Special Olympics Bermuda will send athletes to compete in the Special Olympics Island Games in Jamaica next month.
The Games will take place at Harmony Beach Park in Montego Bay from November 18 to 22.
Approximately 220 athletes from 20 Caribbean countries, including Jamaica, are expected to compete in basketball, football, bocce, volleyball and open-water swimming.
