Fishel & Seattle Advance To NWSL Playoffs
Mia Fishel helped Seattle Reign FC secure a place in the 2026 NWSL Playoffs after they defeated Orlando Pride 1-0 at Lumen Field.
While the talented footballer represents the United States, she has strong Bermuda connections through her father Patrick Fishel, who is Bermudian, and she is related to the well known Bascome family, including former Bermuda internationals Andrew and David Bascome.
Fishel started the match for Seattle and was involved in the decisive goal in the 68th minute.
Seattle Reign said Nérilia Mondésir delivered a corner to the front post, where Jess Fishlock back-heeled the ball towards Fishel.
The club said the ball “deflected off the attacker to the feet of center back Jordyn Bugg,” who converted from close range to give Seattle the lead.
Fishel had earlier threatened in the 23rd minute when Fishlock played a pass through the Orlando defence, with her shot forcing a save from goalkeeper Cosette Morché, although the offside flag was subsequently raised.
Seattle held on for the 1-0 victory in front of 16,095 spectators, securing the eighth and final place in the NWSL Playoffs.
The result marked Seattle’s ninth postseason appearance in club history and their second consecutive playoff berth.
Fishel and her teammates will now travel to face NWSL Shield winners Gotham FC in the quarter-finals on November 8.
