Scott Barnes On Winter Tour Hopes
Karting driver Scott Barnes hopes to defend his Rok Cup Florida Winter Tour title next year.
Barnes, who finished third at the Rok Vegas at the weekend, competed in the Winter Tour for the first time this year, claiming a clean sweep of victories in the final round in Orlando in March.
The Bermudian, who races in the Shifter Masters class, said securing sponsorship will determine whether he can return to defend his title.
“It all depends on whether I can find some sponsors for next year,” Barnes told Bernews.
“I’d like to defend my title in the Winter Tour, which is next up for me.
“I see what happens and we’ll go from there.”
The opening round of the Florida Winter Tour will be held at Sebring International Raceway from January 22 to 24.
Barnes, who was competing overseas for the first time since March, said he was pleased to finish on the podium in Las Vegas on Sunday [November 1].
“It was a super-tight track, very hard to pass,” Barnes said.
“It was my first time in this race, so I’m I’ll take a podium in Vegas any day of the week.”
Barnes races for Maranello Karts USA and is sponsored by Butterfield & Vallis, representing its Powerade brand, and All Rise Limited.
