Bacardi Cup Day 2: Bermuda’s Peter Bromby 22nd
Bermudian sailor Peter Bromby alongside crew Magnus Liljedahl are sitting in 22nd place among the fleet of 84 Star-class sailboats after Day 2 of the 2010 Bacardi Cup.
They jumped from 52nd place on Monday to 22nd after a strong 3rd place finish in yesterday’s race held in Biscayne Bay, Miami. The Tuesday race was the second of a six series race to determine the overall winner.
A world class sailor, Mr. Bromby has made a local record of four Olympic appearances. He is our second highest placing Olympian in history [after bronze medalist Clarence Hill], by virtue of his 4th place finish at the 2000 Sydney Olympics in the Mixed Two Person Keelboat.
He is also the defending champion of the Bacardi Cup, having won it in 2009.

The Bacardi Cup began in 1927 as a three-day event with less than ten boats competing, and has now grown into an internationally renowned event with 200 world class sailors representing 23 different countries.
The racing began on Monday, March 8, 2010, and will continue through to the end of the week.
