Jenaya Wade Fray and Team Win SoCon Finals

socon winner 2010Bermuda’s Jenaya Wade-Fray and her fellow teammates at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga won the Southern Conference Tournament and an automatic bid into the prestigious NCAA tournament.

Beating rivals Samford 72-67, the Lady Mocs overcame an 11-point second half deficit to take the victory. There is a play by play available here.

Heavily favoured for the win going into the finals, Jenaya Wade-Fray and the Lady Mocs have won 19 of their last 21 games, as well as numerous previous SoCon tournaments.

The Bermudian had 11 points and 9 boards to help push her team into the win. In the semi finals Ms. Wade-Fray had scored 13 points with 11 rebounds, went 3-for-4 from the 3-point line, had 10 defensive boards and three assists.

The 21 year old guard, whose mother attended the game, is the daughter of Jennifer Fray and James Wade.

The NCAA Women’s Tournament will announce the selections and seeds on Monday night.
