Bermuda U/17 Footballers Beat Bahamas 5-1
Bermuda’s under/17 World Cup qualifying team got off to an excellent start in their two leg series against host country Bahamas, earning a very impressive 5-1 victory at the game today [July 23] which was played at the Baillou Hill Sporting Complex in the Bahamas.
Thanks to Chikosi Basden, Bermuda opened their account in the 13th minute of play, and then 18 minutes later followed up again in the 31st minute of the first half to take a 2-1 lead at half
The onslaught continued in the second half with goals coming from Tre Ming, in the 65th minute, then 8 minutes later in the 73rd minute of play Jair Minors found the back of the net, and the 84th minute of play, Zeiko Lewis put the game out of reach to capture the very convincing 5-1 victory for Bermuda.
The squad will now have tomorrow [July 23] off, however Head Coach, Devarr Boyles will be fine tuning his players during rest day. The second and final two leg series will be played Sunday, July 25th, in Bahamas. This time, Bermuda will be the home team, while Bahamas will be the visitors. The winner from this stage will go on and compete in the quarterfinal round matches in Trinidad & Tobago in August of 2010.
