Bermuda’s Athletic Champions Return Home
The American Airlines flight tonight [July 4] carried over 20 of Bermuda’s athletes and their stack of 17 medals and 2 trophies. The Bermuda National Swimming Team and the Bermuda Junior Tennis Team flew in, both having performed admirably abroad.
The swimmers won a staggering 17 medals at the 2010 Caribbean Island Swimming Championships in Cuba, the highest ever tally for Bermuda:
The top local swimmer was Kiera Aitken who won 5 medals in total, 4 gold and set a new Caribbean record as well:
In her international debut for Bermuda, Lisa Blackburn did the island proud winning 4 medals in total, 3 being gold:

Also on the flight tonight was the junior tennis team returning from the International ITF Tournament in the Bahamas who also did extremely well. Shown below is Christopher Rego [doubles winner and singles runner up] and James Finnigan [Consolation finals winner]
