The Police blocked off part of Reid Street and drove the suspect from Hamilton Police Station to the back of the court. Police then barred all persons, including media, from that section of Reid Street, including barring pedestrians from walking on the road before the suspect was driven away.

Mr Cox was charged with the premeditated murder of Mr Rawlins and using a firearm. He was not required to enter a plea as the matter must be heard in Supreme Court, and was remanded in custody. There were at least eight uniformed officers in the courtroom, some armed. There was some conflict between Mr Cox and another gentleman while in court, which resulted in prison officers removing the other man.

On August 9th of this year, 47-year-old Mr Rawlins was gunned down in the entrance of Spinning Wheel nightclub, and the father-of-eight suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at 1am that day.

  1. Not Surprised!! says:

I know that everyone has been paying close attention to their local news channels, papers, websites, etc. Well if you have, then you recognize this individual; as he has been in the media several times….

[Editors note: edited for legal reasons]

  2. Just an Observer says:

Did we not learn our lesson or just can’t be bothered to follow protocol??
“Customers” should be handcuffed in the back *SMH*

    • InTheKnow says:

      Allow me to interject-

      1. There is no such protocol for cuffing prisoners/apprehended person to the front only. That would be foolish to prescribe how to cuff every individual (differnt subject factors are im play ie, injuries, size and so on. You may scoff at this but there are Human Rights and Use of Force policies to consider. But i suspect you’ll struggle with seeing value in anything other than ‘lesson teaching’ measures.

      2. This particular ‘customer’ is cuffed in a ‘front stack position’ (look at how his hands are stacked on top of one each other) which offers officers more control of the subject. If the subject resists he/she will cause the cuffs to apply pressure to the nerves above the wrist bone. In short – they hurt themselves struggling, they stop struggling and become compliant with little or no force required by the escorting officer.

      3. This particular subject is being escorted by ‘over 20 officers’ (police officers, not prisone officers – big difference). I would say the risk of flight here is minimal at best.

Did ‘we’ learn our lesson? Hope so.

        ** That’s what I am talking about ** InTheKnow,(SMILE)

I agree with you 100 % +++++. They harm themselve by struggling especially when the cuffs are applying pressure to the nerves above the wrist bone.

Like we learn, ” STOP RESISTING, STOP RESISTING “

        • P!NKS says:

IN THE KNOW MUST BE AN OFFICER ALONG WITH ONLY IN THIS ISLAND OF BERMUDA!!!!

FYI TO EVERYONE WHO’S TALKIN ABOUT THE WAY HE’S CUFFED, HIS ARMS ARE TOO BIG TO BE CUFFED TO THE REAR!!!

IF OFFICERS DID CUFF HIM TO THE BACK HE WOULD BE BENT OVER WALKING AND THEN PPL WOULD COMPLAIN ABOUT INHUMANE TREATMENT!!!

I WILL ALWAYS DEFEND THE BPS BECAUSE NO ONE WILL UNDERSTAND HOW HARD IT IS TO BE A POLICE OFFICER UNTIL THEY EXPERIENCE IT!!!

*GOOD GOING BERNEWS FOR BRINGING THE NEWS ASAP*

          • Only in Bermuda says:

Pinks I agree with you 100 ++++ as well. EXACTLY NO ONE WILL UNDERSTAND HOW HARD IT IS TO BE A POLICE OFFICER UNTIL THEY EXPERIENCE IT !!!

  5. BIG THINGS says:

    :( life soon sort out

  6. Just Curious says:

Putting aside the handcuffs. Can someone please explain why the Officer in the photo above has his weapon strapped behind him? Is that protocol? Doesn’t look safe at all.

    • Scott says:

was wondering the same thing, neither safe nor ready to use

      • michael brangman says:

thats because its probably empty, just a deterent , secondly because they aren’t trained by professionals like they are in Metropolitan police service.

    • P!NKS says:

would u prefer he walked around aiming it at ppl…

    • ok says:

it’s amazing how much a picture of an officer with his gun on his back sparks so much talk lol. Would it surprise you that this picture was taken 20mins before the court even opened? Dont just look at a picture and assume. That officer is very trained and I can assure you he is very ready if it ever came to that.

  7. terry says:

It’s quite obvious that the photo you refer too is not one of the officers escorting him but just securing the area and I am sure that someone had his.

    Thats how it works.

  8. True Dat says:

Pay Close Attention Because everything that we are witnessing is a set up and a conspiracey! You think the face of Bermy has changed now??!!!! Watch the recontruction this system takes in the next couple years trust me it will be drastic!!! So that those that have money and power now will have even more MONEY & Power and we that don’t will have less of everything!! Money, contol of our own money, and less control of the very lifestyles that we lead!! WATCH AND PAY ATTENTION I SPEAK THE TRUTH!!! This is way bigger then these so called gang bangers. They are all just Ponds in a very wicked game of chess!!!!

  9. Uncle Ruckus says:

He also has a gun in his holster by his hand, ready to use and easily accessible. He can’t stand there with his finger on the trigger.

    • michael brangman says:

thats why ur supposed to keep both hands on your weapon and your finger outside the trigger guard. if he was being shot at, he’d die trying to pull his mp5 around to the front, load it coz it’s probably fitted with an empty magazine, ready it, aim and shoot. but at least they’d have the CCTV to catch the killers lol.

  10. Re says:

PLAYER PLAYER couldn’t have said it any better!!!

  13. Wisdom says:
