Bermudians Celebrate Holiday In New York
Although many Bermudians venture off to further their education, upholding Bermudian traditions is inevitable. Nicholas Butterfield, a sophomore majoring in Risk Management and Insurance says, “Having fellow Bermudians here at St. John’s University is like having a home away from home.”
This exact thought resonates with all of those students who are mostly obtaining their Bachelors degree in Risk Management and Insurance. Therefore, they planned, organized and executed a fun filled weekend during the Easter break in New York City. Bermudian students came together to partake in festivities such as playing marbles, flying kites, playing football, eating hot cross buns, cod fish cakes and fellowshipping over Easter Dinner on Sunday.

Sanae Russell, a junior, majoring in Risk Management and Insurance hosted the event in her apartment says, “In my freshman year, I vividly remember being alone and homesick during the Easter Holiday. As an upperclassmen, I know the feeling other Bermudian students have so I invited everyone into my home to carryout Bermudian traditions away from home. This Easter holiday was a great success!” Overall they enjoyed an exciting Easter Holiday, partaking in great food, fellowship, and friends!
