Police Make Arrests, Seize Gun/Ammunition
[Updated] Unofficial reports indicate that yesterday [June 5] the Police may have located a firearm and arrested multiple people. A heavy Police presence could be seen during the afternoon in the Wellington Slip Road area in St George’s.
Officials have not yet confirmed the arrests, however unofficial indications are that the Police presence in St George’s may have been in relation to a firearm seizure, and that multiple people may be in Police custody. We will update with official information as able.
Update 6:22pm: The Police have confirmed that four men were arrested, and that controlled drugs, a firearm and ammunition were seized.
A Police spokesman said, “On Sunday afternoon, 5th June, police officers were conducting proactive patrols in the east end especially in the area of Mullet Bay and Wellington Slip Roads.”
“Their attention was drawn to a group of men who were acting suspiciously and a search revealed a quantity of controlled drugs for which the men were arrested. A further search revealed a firearm and ammunition concealed nearby.”
“The men were arrested in connection with the firearm and further enquiries and searches have resulted in the arrests of two other men.”
All four remain in custody as of today (Monday, June 6th 2011). It is too early to tell whether this firearm was used in earlier crimes but it will immediately be sent off for forensic tests.”
“The Bermuda Police Service takes this opportunity to encourage members of the public to provide us with any information that they have about this incident, or to help us take another dangerous gun off the street. WHAT ARE YOU GOWING TO DO WITH THEM NOW THAT YOU HAVE IT!!!!!
Hope they melt them down
LOL
It depends if they are considered ‘youth’ or disadvantaged ‘young black males’. You know they are not considered men until they reach the age of 40 yrs old, so they never get the madatory sentence for fire arm pocession. And before the haters rebuke me, yes I’m BLACK
You hit the nail on the head. We need tough love for our youth.
And @ 40 some of them still haven’t “Grown-up”!!!
I remember when 16 was a young man. Now they’re still considered boys. Heck, when they’re 21 they’re still considered boys. Until we start to look at reality and stop with this PC crap the world is doomed. People afraid of being offended or offenders. One thing about the TRUTH, it tends to offend when necessary and to soothe also. When humans start to say and speak the truth the world will be better. I am not advocating a license to speak hate. Just truth. Liberate yourselves one and all.
DUH – investigate the offences and put the offenders before the courts?!?! Just a guess. Nice to see your positive contributions as always!
Good work!!
Well done fellas
If they in fact did seize a fire arm, the person caught with it will be more than likely be charged with possession and the fire arm will probably be analyzed to see if it was used in connection with any of the shootings that have taken place and subsequently held as evidence.
Job WELL DONE!!! Let’s find some more guns and get them off the street. Congrats BPS. We seldom have anything good to say about officers. Today you deserve mention!
ALL RIGHT JOB WELL DONE BPS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice! I like good news on a monday, keep seizing those weapons!!
If it is so (thats what I am talking bout) Do your think guys.
Keep following the trail guys with an “adequate” amount of pressure on those who have the information we need.
Congrats !
Well Done BPS.
YES!! Well done! Now pistol whip that clown till he tells you where he bought it…….ok well telephone book em!
yup they need a beatdown…thats how the police get info out of peple everywhere else in the world…bermuda needs to get with it we cant afford to keep babying these lil boys. they will talk once they feel that phonebook a few times cross their head real good.
It doesn’t sound like they found anyone actually in POSSESSION of the guns and drugs so if there are no prints on the weapon and no DNA on the drugs….let’s home someone rolls over!
If they were all in the PRESENCE of the drugs and gun they should ALL be prosecuted, and if they can’t find who then the owner or occupier of the house.
@ WC – who says anyone of dem own/occupy de house?? guys r just sittin off
No i’m sayin shotta if they can’t find the culprit amongst those arrested!
Hmmm I wondered what was going on there as I drove past, now i’m glad to have found out. Good job boys in blue, now lets get more. Enough is enough
JOB WELL DONE PO PO!!!
they found no gun u people bagging wich well done tell police stop lying
STFU!!
Acronyms..so not necessary!! entitled to his/her opinion whether you agree or not……
The moral of this story is…if you stop to buy drugs or try to steal their cash/cashet………’big dady is within reach.
Buyers beware. Never know. An ounce of prevention is worth a few grams of sense…….
i hope they do balistics n if that gun was used in a murder they should all b charged
Well done to everyone involved in the arrests!!
Don’t usually congratulate the Po-lice (on account a them stoppin me fer speedn an stuff) but WELL DONE GUYS!!!!
WELL DONE BPS~~~!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! I LIKE THE TELEPHONE BOOK PART THE BEST!
I want to know something………..what happens to these so called seizures of these guns and amo or drugs etc? Where do they go or whats done with them???
Who cares? They are off the street. I imagine they are kept as evidence though.
It wasn’t even found in the house or connected wif the house! Don’t believe everything u hear!
And who made you an authority on your summation of events 26 -1/2 old black male.
Being found in the house is neither here nor there. Now being connected, how do you know that. You must have good info.
I guess your just summising from the photo/’s.
As for “Disgusted”..the drugs are kept, stored, itemised, labeled, and presented as exhibits in court when and if there is a prosecution.
As for the guns, the same but forensically tested for DNA, Prints, Rifeling, Hammer spots, et al.
In the future, if not related to an actual incident they are then taken to a secret place where the Police have a big party and shoot at each other and smoke weed and do crack until it is all gone.
That about it………then sell the guns back too the street gang members. Just the way it is.
(Jest, but bad humor…Jingus)………
Ok I won’t believe everything you say!
Very well done!! BPS is on the job and we (the community) need to continue to support and help them.
Job well done guys, you’ve in some way intervened in another shooting taking place on our island. <3
JOB WELL DONE!! ONE LESS WEAPON OFF THE STREETS!!! ONE DOWN AND MANY MANY MORE TO GO!!! BPS/COMMUNITY WE CAN DO IT!!!!! LETS WORK TOGETHER IT CAN BE DONE
