Chamber of Commerce President Resigns

November 9, 2011

Having been selected to represent the Progressive Labour Party as a candidate for Constituency #30 in the next General Election, Bermuda Chamber president Stephen Todd has tendered his resignation.

In a statement released this morning [Nov.9],  the Chamber said it was an apolitical association dedicated to furthering the needs of local businesses.

Mr Todd said: “Effective immediately I tender my resignation as President of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce. Buddy Rego, Vice President of the Chamber will succeed me as Interim President until the Annual General Meeting is held in April, 2012.”

Mr. Todd continued, “I am confident that the current Chamber executive team will continue to do an excellent job in shepherding the goals and objectives of the Chamber and championing the needs of local businesses, and at this point, we are very close to naming a new executive director to assist in this worthwhile venture.”

Buddy Rego, interim president of the Chamber, thanked Mr. Todd for his dedication to the organisation and his many years of service saying, “Stephen Todd has been a real asset to the Chamber and we will be sorry to see him go, nevertheless we understand and applaud his quest to serve the larger Bermuda community and, on behalf of everyone here, we wish him well.”
