PLP Commend Simmons On Water Taxi Launch
The Bermuda Progressive Labour Party today [May 7] congratulated Captain Ashley Simmons on the launch of his business, Bermuda Water Taxi.
Shadow Transport Minister Lawrence Scott said, “Captain Simmons is to be commended for providing locals and visitors with an alternative means to getting around the island.
“It is my hope that this will not only provide some measure of relief to traffic congestion but will also be used to reduce incidents of drunk driving. We congratulate him on his initiative and wish him much success in this endeavor.”
Shadow Tourism Minister Wayne Furbert added, “During this recession, many Bermudians have identified opportunities to employ themselves and provide a service to residents and visitors.
“Capt. Simmons represents Bermuda’s traditional ‘can do’ spirit that is sure to inspire others. I’m certain that visitors to our island will appreciate this added amenity and enjoy the opportunity to see the beauty of Bermuda from the ocean.”
Oh, Goody! Now how do we reach him? I’d take a water taxi ride if his prices are competitive!
The Water Taxi can be contacted via 535 5555 or info@bermudawatertaxi.bm
Some info about the prices is in the initial article here:

Competitive with who? The Government ferrys if they charged what it really costs to operate the boats?
Better start with a Government ferry fee at least three times the current rate if you are truly prepared to pay your way.
nice words scott. else for furbert he could go blow… i thought he moved to marthas vineyard lol
Great! Support from the PLP! Now THERE is a group of people who know all about running an operation in a fiscally responsible manner. They have special talents in dock building as well as ferry purchase & maintenance.
NOT!!!!
Thanks for the smile, “Triangle Drifter”
Mr. Simmons, your concept, offering an alternative means of getting about is a great idea bu,t it will boil down to, “what does this Taxi service cost” Is the fare per person?($20:00) if correct it is a bit costly to say the least…I would want it to be a successful business ye,t I do see people i.e. a family of 4 or more at $20:00 being quite expensive to the, “average local” in these time in particular. I also would appreciate it if you sea-taxi/s did have a bit more, “freeboard” and shelter from the bad weather and water spray when traveling up-wind
plp congratulate…what a joke…i wish u all the best..but you should have left PLP behind..cause they couldnt help u when they were in power and sure wont help u now.
