The Bermuda Constituency Boundaries Commission [BCBC] has “commenced its evaluation of the 36 constituency boundaries that define Bermuda’s voting districts” and will host three town halls to “provide voters the opportunity to ask questions and hear more about the Commission’s work.”

A Government spokesperson said, “The Parliamentary Registry Office [PRO] is advising that the Bermuda Constituency Boundaries Commission has commenced its evaluation of the 36 constituency boundaries that define Bermuda’s voting districts for parliamentary elections.

“It should be noted and reminded that the Bermuda Constituency Boundaries Commission is appointed by Her Excellency the Governor in accordance with Section 53[2] of the Constitution.

“The Commission’s mandate is to ensure, as far as reasonably possible, that each constituency contains an equal number of individuals eligible to be registered as electors. The Commission is comprised of two representatives from each political party and two independent members, who serve as the chairman and the judicial member.

“As a note, the members of the Boundaries Commission are:

  • Mark Ramkerrysingh – Chairman ~ Trinidad & Tobago
  • The Hon. Mr. Justice Loren Klein ~ Judicial Member ~ The Bahamas
  • Christopher Famous, JP, MP
  • Craig Cannonier, JP, MP
  • Kim Swan, JP, MP
  • Sen. Robin Tucker, JP

“Members of the public are invited to submit, in writing, any information that they feel will assist the Commission in completing its work. Written submissions can be sent to bcbc@gov.bm.

“Additionally, there will be three town hall meetings throughout the island to provide voters the opportunity to ask questions and hear more about the Commission’s work:

  • Monday, 23 September at Penno’s Wharf Terminal from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Given that the polling station for the upcoming by-election is reported to be the church at which the PLP candidate is rector, perhaps a look at polling stations is in order too.

    • Claudia Stone says:

Completely agree with this suggestion. Should the by-election remain at the present church, this gives an unfair advantage to the PLP candidate. People should be protesting along with each party candidate to change the venue of the October 4, 2024 by-election.

  2. Ringmaster says:

Also a good time to seriously consider a reduction in Constituencies from 36 to 18. 18 is plenty for such a small population.

  3. PAC MAN says:

Having a workable Government has now become critical in more ways than one , because we are at te end of our rope if you did but know it.

A devided country is a recipe for disaster. look sat us now !

We can’t be chasing after 36 people around the clock to do their elected jobs.

Also save a big bundle of money we dont have ant the same time .

11 will do, 5 from each side , we desperately need to break the race based political dead lock party system with a separate chairman if you can find the best ,either him or her .

Leaving our women out of the race is unfair and prejudicial.

We need to choose dedicated people very wisely .,and buck up ! to also include some women supporters .

I and many others want our vote back in order to vote for people with qualifications dedication and back ground.

We need to dump this parish idea which has proven not to work .

We desperately need good workable ideas simply because we need the brightest and best to do it .

We have not seen a rep in 25 years. What does that tell you?

Taxation with out representation is day light robbery !

We are either right or wrong side of prosperity. We do not have to guess which way.

Having a lop sided Government running this islands business which is not going any where.

More of the same ? how can it be work able as accountability is on the line .

We , sad to say are on the brink of failure our National debt is breaking us ,don’t tell the children .

We all can be winners. !

Churches should not be used for political purposes. It is unethical. Reminds me of the Bible in which Jesus turns tables over the Temple. Continue on Mr. Richardson on behalf of all right thinking Bermudians

Constituency 3…had not seen Ms Foggo in quite sometime that is until election was reported. Lo and behold, knock on doors and question was, “what concerns do you have?”. Lovitta, do you really want to know, do you really care? For years you have been missing in action less more then often. Since the last time you were canvassing a few months ago, you have again disappeared. Stay there because St. David’s is fed up and ready to move on.
