Women’s Football: Bermuda Defeat Bahamas
[Updated – The U/17 Bermuda women’s football team defeated Bahamas 4-2 in their opening match of the Under 17 CFU FIFA World Cup Qualifying Tournament this evening in Puerto Rico.
Bahamas took the lead in the 4th minute, and Aaliyah Nolan scored twice to give Bermuda the 2-1 lead at half time. Nolan completed her hat trick in the second half, and Eva Frazzoni added another to make it 4-2.]
Bermuda are leading Bahamas 2-1 at half time of their first match in the Under 17 CFU FIFA World Cup Qualifying Tournament being held this evening [Aug 7] in Puerto Rico.
Bahamas took the lead in the 4th minute, before two strikes from Aaliyah Nolan in the 8th and 18th min gave Bermuda the 2-1 lead. We will update with the final score as able.
Bermuda has been placed in Group 1 and will play Bahamas and Puerto Rico. The winners and runner up of each group will advance to the CFU finals as well as the best and second best 3rd placed teams.
Team: Micah Pond, Deshea Darrell, Eva Frazzoni, Danielle Foote, Taznae Fubler, Raven Pitcher, Victoria Davis, Raeesah Shakir, K’shaela Burch Waldron, Kali Lespere, Asia Denkins, Jada Samuels, Sideya Dill, Zahra Gibbons, Leah Smith, Tieyah Durham, Nasaj Burgess, Aaliyah Nolan, Dazhja Greaves, and Symira Lowe.
Officials: Head Coach – Aaron Denkins, Assistant Coach – Naquita Robinson, Physio/Trainer – Ivan Dyer, Team Manager – Charryse Bean and Head of Delegation – Anthony Francis.
Update 9.57pm: Bermuda is now up 4-2 in the late part of the second half, with Aaliyah Nolan scoring her third goal and Eva Frazzoni adding another.
Update 10.16pm: Bermuda defeated the Bahamas 4-2. Bahamas will now play the host Puerto Rico on Friday, and Bermuda will close out the tournament with a match up against the home nation on Sunday.
