Police Investigating Shooting In Devonshire

[Updated] After “several reports of what were believed to be gunshots” in Devonshire, the police also “received reports that a male had attended King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.”

A police spokesperson said, “Around 10:40pm on 4 March 2026, police received several reports of what were believed to be gunshots in the Mary Victoria Road / Alexandra Road area of Devonshire.

“Armed officers were quickly dispatched to the location to conduct inquiries, and evidence suggesting that a firearm had been discharged was discovered.

“A short time later, police also received reports that a male had attended King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. The seriousness of the male’s injuries is not known at this time.

“Police have since cordoned off the area, and an investigation is now underway.

“Anyone with information that may assist this investigation is urged to contact police by calling 211 as soon as possible.”

Update March 5, 4.50pm: A police spokesperson said, “An 18-year-old male shot and injured after a firearm was discharged in the Mary Victoria Road, Alexandra Road Devonshire area around 10:40pm Wednesday, 4th March 2026 has been released from hospital, after receiving treatment for his wounds.

“The investigation regarding this confirmed firearm incident is ongoing and any witnesses are now encouraged to call Detective Sergeant Mark Raposo on 717-2487, or e-mail mraposo@bps.bm.

“Members of the public with relevant information can also call the Serious Crime Unit on 247-1739, or speak with a police officer they know.

“Alternatively, anonymous tips can be shared with the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline, 800-8477, or submitted through their website, www.crimestoppers.bm.”

    As this continues. Time for a change. Pastor Bean has been in the job too long and suddenly springs on us that we are in this situation because of slave trauma. No trauma from a lack of leadership and his ineffective strategies based on a PhD nobody understands. It is going to get worse. Slave trauma ????when we did lots to prove our worth and built strong communities and families now destroyed by such foolishness. So sad that he continues and that ideology is followed by those who were sent to sit in the corner and learn their ABCs.
