Women’s Futsal League Weekend Results
A total of 27 goals were scored in the latest round of the Women’s Futsal League inside the Warwick Academy Gymnasium.
PHC Lady Zebras 4 – Dandy Stars 3
In the game of the evening, the PHC Lady Zebras were crowned 2014 Women’s Futsal League Champions after defeating Dandy Stars 4 – 3. The game was close in the beginning and at half-time both teams were tied at 1 – 1. In the second-half, PHC scored 3 quick goals, but Dandy Stars scored late 2 goals and looked like they would tie the game at the end, but fell just short. Jessica Furtado was MVP for the PHC Lady Zebras scoring 2 goals, while Taznae Fubler and Symira Lowe-Darrell added a goal each, Dandy Stars MVP Kashintae Fox, Nia Christopher and Dante Allen all scored a goal each.
Footy Force Stars 9 – Young Men Social Club Lady Bluebirds 3
Cheyra Bell scored 5 goals for Footy Force who dominated the game from start to finish and at half-time were up 5 – 0. Although Footy Force scored 4 more goals in the second-half, Young Men Social Club Lady Bluebirds made it much more competitive by responding with 3 goals. Bell’s 5 goals puts her in second place with 21 goals, just 1 behind League Leader Shauntae Todd of the Somerset Hurricanes who has 22 goals. Bell was outstanding for Footy, they also got single strikes from Zahra Gibbons, K’Shaela Burch-Waldron, Jada Samuels and Danielle Foote, Zekiah Lewis was outstanding for the Young Men Social Club Lady Bluebirds with a goal, also scoring was Sherkyra Outerbridge and Nyanje Burgess.
Somerset Hurricanes 8 – Hamilton Parish 0
Shauntae Todd and MVP Deshae Darrell both scored hat-tricks as the Somerset Hurricanes dominated the entire game and were up 7 – 0 at half-time. In the second-half Hamilton Parish upped their game and frustrated the Somerset Hurricanes, only allowing 1 goal to be scored against them. Dazhjah Greaves also scored twice for the Somerset Hurricanes, Darcy Gimas was the MVP for Hamilton Parish.
Next week’s games will decide the League’s scoring Champion and it is between 3 players, Somerset Hurricanes’ Shauntae Todd (22 goals), Footy Force’s Cheyra Bell (21 goals) and PHC Lady Zebras’ Jessica Furtado (18 goals).
