Bermuda Open Karate Championships Results

The Bermuda Open Karate Championships celebrated its 32nd edition today [Apr 27] at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel.

The black belt men’s open and weapons forms categories were extremely close, with winner Kaelin Cox taking the grandchampionship over Jonathan Lugo, the over 40 gold medalist. Kaelin was also third in weapons behind Kent Bean and Garon Wilkinson.

Kent went on to take the weapons grandchampionship over masters winner Anthony Leader. Other grandchampions were Talia Iris [forms], Andrea McKey [weapons forms], Jahzion Lugo [novice boys], Kentaro Bean [intermediate boys], Jahzion Lugo [junior weapons], Jahrien Lugo [novice girls], and Ryley Mason [intermediate girls].

Junior boys sparring winners were Dekada Gilbert, Xavier Lee, Zeki Tucker, Jahzion Lugo and Tyrese Coakley.Junior girls champions were Dominique Brown, Zanai Bascome, and Jahrien Lugo. In black belt mens sparring Otero Smith scored a 4/0 victory over Kaeilin Cox.
