Family Centre’s Annual Cup Match Tag Day

July 7, 2014

The excitement of Cup Match is sweeping the island, and Family Centre is once again providing Somerset and St. George’s fans with their traditional Cup Match ribbons. For 19 years, Family Centre has held its annual Tag Day the day before Cup Match and this year is no different – Tag Day will be held on Wednesday, July 30 at various locations throughout the island.

Mrs. Dismont, Executive Director of Family Centre, stated, “Although Tag Day is a fundraiser, this is an opportunity for us to remind the community of the urgent needs children and families are facing in Bermuda. Family Centre provided support to close to 900 families in 2013. We are preventing problems through our work with children and families in the community, and building a foundation of strong families. We need everyone in Bermuda to support these efforts.”

Clarien Bank Limited is the title sponsor of Family Centre’s public Tag Day appeal again this year. The bank began partnering with Family Centre on the event in 2001.

Michael DeCouto, Chief Marketing Officer for Clarien Bank stated, “Clarien Bank Limited is pleased to be able to continue to support the Family Centre Annual Cup Match Ribbon Tag Day. The partnership now in its 13th year demonstrates our commitment to the Bermuda community.

“The work of the Family Centre is critical to the success of families in Bermuda. As a result we encourage all Bermudians to join us in giving to this most important charitable initiative.”

“We are grateful to have the support from Clarien Bank Limited. This continued support is critical to continuing services to at risk families,” added Mrs. Dismont.

A spokesperson said, “This year, Family Centre is also introducing a Facebook photo contest. Send in a creative photo of yourself, friends, and/or family that incorporates Family Centre’s Cup Match ribbons and you could win a $250 grocery voucher for The MarketPlace Ltd.

“The winner will be chosen and announced on July 30 and the number of “likes” each photo receives will definitely affect the judges’ decisions. Photos can be posted online or sent to sarah@tfc.prevention.bm.

“Come out and support Family Centre on July 30 and give generously because Bermuda’s future depends on the strength of the children and families who live here. Whether your colours are red and blue or blue and blue, Family Centre is encouraging you to buy a tag, share a tag, and give a child a chance.

“Volunteer taggers are greatly needed. If you would like to volunteer at one of our tag stations, please call 232-1116.”
