BBA’s Sunday Somerset Road Race Results

September 21, 2014

The Social Cycles team hosted the Bermuda Bicycle Association’s road race in Dockyard and Somerset this morning [Sept 21] along a relatively flat 10 kilometer loop.

Dominique Mayho continued to show that he is the strongest of the local racers taking the win in the A category ahead of Shannon Lawrence, while Darren Glasford won the group sprint for third in the 80 kilometer race. Junior Tyler Smith handily beat the rest of the B category with a well-planned solo attack heading into the final lap of the 60 kilometer race.

Chris Eaton was able to bridge up to Smith but was not able to stay with him as the younger rider accelerated out of the turn on to Somerset Road. Dennis Joell was able to take the sprint to round out the podium.

Repeat winners were also seen in the C, Women and Junior A categories with Sean Dickinson, Karen Bordage and Kaden Hopkins besting their respective groups.

Ben Edwards and Malik Joell continued their head-to-head battle in the Junior B with Joell taking the honours this time and a fast chasing Alexander Miller coming third. In the youngest category, Junior C, Enshe-Nico Davis scored his first ever victory ahead of Nick Narraway and Megan Hands.

While the BBA’s road season heads to its conclusion on October 19th with the national criterium championship and the popular IBC Front Street Races for riders aged 4 and over. Before that there will be one more criterium to be held in Hamilton on Sunday, October 5 hosted by the Madison Digicel team.
