Bermudian sailor Christian Ebbin and his Tulane University teammates finished the opening day of the Danmark Trophy in fifth place overall in New London, Connecticut.
Ebbin, sailing with crew Sabrina Anderson, placed 12th in B Division with 44 points after four races. The pair recorded finishes of fourth, 18th, ninth and 13th.
Tulane’s A Division team contributed 26 points, bringing the university’s combined total to 70.
Hosted by the United States Coast Guard Academy on the Thames River, the two-day regatta features racing across two divisions in 420 dinghies.
Saturday’s racing began in a northeasterly breeze of 5–12 knots, which eased and shifted east during the day. The official race report noted large wind shifts and inconsistent wind strength.
Racing is scheduled to conclude today [October 4].
