Bermuda Golfers Move To 44th In Japan

September 12, 2014

golf140912The 2014 World Amateur Team Championships continued in Karuizawa, Japan, with Bermuda represented by the team of Jarryd Dillas, Will Haddrell and Mark Phillips falling to 44th overall at 6-Over Par.

Team captain Chris Brough said, “A rough round 3 for team Bermuda at the WATC. Jarryd Dillas was the low man with a [+1] round of 72, with Mark Phillips shooting a [+4] 75 and Will Haddrell a [+5] 76.

“The team teed off in very cool temperatures [around 50 degrees] and the clubs were just as cool for team Bermuda with all three players struggling to find their rhythm. Mark continued to have a rough time on the greens with 5 lipped out putts and still seeking his first birdie in 48 holes.

“Will Haddrell scrambled all round, missing fairways by small margins and being punished with lies from which Jarryd had an up and down round including an eagle and a double bogey.

“The lads are disappointed with their performance today and are looking forward to the Iriyama course tomorrow.”

Coming from an Island that has more golf courses than anywhere in the world per sq. mile one would expect far better results. :-(

are you serious? theres 60,000 people to choose from in Bermuda… how do you expect to compete with the likes of the USA with over 300 MILLION people! that has to be the most IGNORANT comment ever… just because there are more per sq. mile means literally nothing. there are over 15,000 golf courses in America alone. maybe next time you should travel with the team and get a taste of it.
