Otto Strengthens Into 7th Hurricane Of Season
Hurricane Otto — the 7th hurricane of the 2016 Atlantic Season — has formed, and according to the NHC it is the “latest hurricane formation on record in the Caribbean Sea.”
The Bermuda Weather Service said Hurricane Otto is not a threat to Bermuda at this time, and the National Hurricane Center said that Otto is expected to approach the coasts of Costa Rica and Nicaragua on Thursday.
A Hurricane Watch is in effect for the Costa Rica/Panama border and according to international media reports, the storm — which currently has maximum sustained near 75 mph [120 km/h] — has already caused three deaths in Panama.
