BNT To Host Series Of Events In February

February 13, 2017

The Bermuda National Trust is gearing up for a busy February with a series of events taking place in the next three weeks.

On Thursday, February 16th, the Trust hosts the annual Children’s Nature Walk at Spittal Pond. Sponsored by Arch Capital Holdings Ltd, more than 400 students are expected to join the walk, in which young children are guided around the nature trails by trained escorts. They have the opportunity to stop at significant spots and learn firsthand from experts in the field about biodiversity, geology and cultural history.

On Saturday, February 18th, 2017, the Trust holds its annual Plant and Bake Sale at its Waterville Headquarters from 8.30am to 12 noon. Plants, seedlings and fresh fruits and vegetables are available for sale, including a large number of endemic and native plants and trees. Bluebird boxes will also be on sale.

The Trust welcomes donations of plants and baked goods. Call 236-6483 for more information.

One week after the Plant and Bake Sale, the National Trust will hold its second monthly volunteer event on Saturday, February 25th from 8.30am to 1pm when ANTS [Another National Trust Service] volunteers go the Royal Naval Cemetery in Dockyard to waterproof the gazebo with sealant. Volunteers of all ages are welcome to attend and should email palmetto@bnt.bm for more information.

The next day, attention turns to the Trust’s Auction and Jumble Sale, a major fundraiser for the Trust and a fun event for all. The Trust starts receiving donations for the auction and jumble sale on Sunday, February 26th at the Botanical Gardens from 1pm to 4pm and receives donations on Monday from 8.30am to 6.30pm and on Tuesday, February 28 from 8.30am to 2pm.

The Trust accepts hard wood furniture, linens, books, jewellery, Knick knacks, decorations for all occasions, collectibles, linens, sliver, porcelain, antique maps, good Chinese and reproduction boxes and trays, fine art, hurricane shades, marine items and many other treasures.

The Jumble Sale and Auction Preview takes place on Thursday, March 2 from 8.30am until 6.30pm and on Friday, March 3 from 8.20am until 2pm in the Commercial Slat House outside the main ring at the Botanical Gardens.
