ANCOP Bermuda Walk Set To Be Held Sunday

On Sunday [Sept 16] at 8.00am, Answering the Cry of the Poor [ANCOP] International Bermuda will be having their annual walk, an event “which aims to raise funds for its shelter and child sponsorship program.”

A spokesperson said, “The walk is conducted simultaneously in various locations which include Canada, USA and Philippines. ANCOP is a duly registered charity in Bermuda dedicated to uplift the lives of poorest of the poor families in developing countries.

“It aims to restore the poor’s hope and dignity, organizing them into sustainable and self-reliant communities through livelihood assistance, values formation and community empowerment. Since ANCOP Bermuda’s inception, they were able to build a total of 87 houses for the poorest of the poor families and provide more than 75 child sponsorship to less fortunate children around the world.

“ANCOP Bermuda had also responded to the call of the affected families by Typhoon Haiyan – the super Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines on November 8, 2013 – one of the strongest and deadliest typhoon on record, killing at least 6,300 people and affected more than 11 million people and many have been left homeless.

“Through the generous members of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hamilton Bermuda [from 6 Parish Churches] and Bermuda community, ANCOP Bermuda bequeathed $7,000 to individuals whose families in the Philippines were affected by the super typhoon; $28,076 to Baranggay BuaBua, Salcedo, Eastern Samar for the roofing of houses and church; and $30,000 to Pope Francis ANCOP Canada Community [SM Cares Village, Tacloban City, ] in the total amount of $65,000.00 aided to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

“Due to the love for the poor, ANCOP Bermuda once again committed to build 30 more houses, called CFC ANCOP Bermuda Community, located at Buguey, Cagayan, Philippines and also aimed to increase the number of its child sponsorship. The selection of the beneficiaries shall be strictly in line with the guidelines prescribed by the CFC ANCOP Manuals.

“To continue the works for the poorest of the poor, ANCOP Bermuda is appealing the Bermuda community to donate at least a dollar a day [$1.00] for children sponsorship for a year or $10.00 a day for a year for the shelter of a poor family or join the ANCOP Walk in Love on Sunday, 16 September 2018 at 8:00 a.m.

“Assembly point of the walk will be at the Botanical Gardens in Paget. Registration fee is $35 for adult and $25 for students [13-18 years of age]. The $5 of the registration fee is automatically allocated to the benefit of St. Vincent de Paul Society – outreach to the poor.
