Kiwanis Club Of St George’s “Hero Of The Year”

February 16, 2019

Recognition will be given next Thursday [February 21] to the latest “Hero of the Year”, a program sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of St George’s. The club has this program to honour someone who performs an act of heroism during the previous year, in this case during 2018.

Kiwanis St George Vice President Daron Lowe says that it was felt that heroes should be recognized for putting their lives at risk when attempting to save or rescue someone else from danger or worse.

“Last year’s recipient was Sidney Mello, who had actually saved three persons from the threat of drowning, on three separate occasions,” a spokesperson said.

The identity of the “Hero of the Year” will be remain secret until the time of the actual presentation. This takes place at the club’s regular dinner, to be held on Thursday, February 21. The dinner will be held at the St George’s Club Resort.
